Parts of a plant and their functions

Plants and their parts

Plants and trees are everywhere around us.
They play a great role in our ecosystem.
They are very important to all living things and the planet.
Plants and trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen which is essential for animals and human to breathe.

Let's have a look at the parts of plants:

Plants have typically six parts which are roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds.

Roots absorb water and minerals from the soil and helps to hold the plant to the ground so the plant does not fall.

Stems are strong part that holds the plant upright. It allows water, nutrients to flow to the leaves.

Leaves of a plant helps to collect sunlight and most important of all they help to make food for the plant.  They come in many shapes and sizes.

Flowers are useful because they make fruit and seeds for the plant. Flowers are always beautiful so that they can attract other insects such as bees and birds.

Fruits are the part of plants that protects seeds. The seeds are moved to places by animals that eat the fruits.

Seeds are very important as they help the plant to reproduce as they grow into a new plant.
